Heavyweights

Gold, as are all precious metals, is measured in Troy weight (12 oz/lb). Pretty much everything else (non-metric system) is measured in Avoirdupois weight (16 oz/lb). Troy ounces are slightly heavier than Avoirdupois ounces. A Troy pound equates to 0.373 kilograms, whereas an Avoirdupois pound equates to 0.453 kilograms.
